The History of BA in the British Fire Service -1943

In this year the Manual of Firemanship Part 1 recommended that where breathing apparatus is available:

  1. Men in BA should always work in pairs.
  2. On occasions it may be desirable to trail a bobbin line to enable men to retrace their steps.
  3. In some circumstances line signals may be advantageous provided a separate line is used for signals.
