Weddings are taking place at Coventry's
register officer - even though an arson attack threatened to destroy the
historic building.
Firefighters were called after a sofa was set alight
and placed against a wall of the Manor House in the city centre on Friday
night.
Although there was some damage to the office, fire
crews managed to douse the flames and prevent them spreading through
the grade II listed timber-framed building.
The seven weddings planned for Saturday are going
ahead, although there will be some rescheduling of rooms.
